Mickai Product

Mickai Sky

Mickai Sky is the satellite-imagery decoder bundled inside the Mickai desktop app. Pair it with a software-defined radio (RTL-SDR, AirSpy, HackRF) and it will pull weather and amateur-radio satellite passes out of the air, demodulate them, and decode the imagery on your own machine. No cloud relay, no third-party processing, no telemetry. Mickai is downloadable at mickai.co.uk/download and runs on Windows, Linux, or macOS.

The Mickai SIOS

Mickai is a Sovereign Intelligence Operating System (SIOS). It runs entirely on your own hardware, on Windows, Linux, or macOS. No cloud, no telemetry. This page describes one subsystem of the Mickai SIOS. Download Mickai at mickai.co.uk/download.

Included with Mickai. Pair with any common SDR (RTL-SDR, AirSpy, HackRF) on Windows, Linux, or macOS. Decoding happens on your own machine. No data leaves your network.

What Mickai Sky does

Six primitives that turn a low-cost SDR into a sovereign satellite-imagery receiver. Decoded passes feed the Atlas spatial-reasoning brain and write a signed entry to the audit ledger.

01 / Hardware

Common SDR receivers

RTL-SDR (the £25 dongle), AirSpy Mini and AirSpy R2, HackRF One, SDRplay RSP1A and RSPdx. USB plug-and-play on Linux, Windows and macOS. No proprietary front-end, no licensed driver.

02 / Weather

Weather satellite passes

NOAA APT (137 MHz) for live cloud cover, Meteor M LRPT for higher-resolution imagery, GOES HRIT and EWS-G for Atlantic and Pacific basins, FY-3 LRPT and AHRPT for the Asian segment. Pass prediction is on-device; no online tracker required.

03 / Amateur

Amateur-radio downlinks

Linear and FM transponders on AO-91, RS-44, IO-117 (Greencube), the QO-100 geostationary segment, and any future amateur payload that follows a documented protocol. SSTV reception, packet decoding, telemetry capture.

04 / Sovereign

Signal stays on the machine

Demodulation, decoding, and image reconstruction run locally. The decoded image never leaves the device unless you explicitly export it. No cloud relay, no online identifier, no third-party processing pipeline. Useful when the network is hostile, expensive, or absent.

05 / Brains

Atlas brain integration

Decoded imagery feeds the Atlas spatial-reasoning brain. Queries like find the most recent unobscured pass over the Lake District or overlay last week's NOAA-19 imagery on the maritime fleet positions resolve against the on-device imagery store, signed and dated.

06 / Audit

Signed pass records

Every decoded pass writes a signed Open Audit Record entry: the satellite identifier, the AOS and LOS times, the centre frequency, the receiver, the operator, the sample rate and the hash of the resulting image. Forensically defensible imagery, end to end.

Decoded formats

Out of the box. The plug-in decoder framework lets you add any documented downlink, weather, amateur, scientific, with a satellite definition file and a demodulator.

APT

NOAA APT (137 MHz)

NOAA-15, 18, 19. 4 km per pixel. Two channels: visible and infrared. 12 minute pass overhead.

LRPT

Meteor M LRPT

Meteor M2-3, M2-4. Three or six channel imagery, 1 km per pixel. Russian polar weather satellites.

HRIT

GOES HRIT and EWS-G

Geostationary US weather satellites. Full-disk imagery every 10 minutes, multispectral. Requires dish.

AHRPT

FY-3 AHRPT

Chinese FY-3 polar satellites. Higher-resolution multispectral imagery. Steered Yagi or dish.

Amateur

Amateur-radio satellites

AO-91, RS-44, IO-117, QO-100. Voice, packet, SSTV, telemetry. Linear and FM transponders.

Custom

Any documented downlink

Plug-in decoder framework. Drop a new satellite definition in, wire the demodulator, decode.

Where Mickai Sky earns its weight

Anywhere the network is hostile, expensive, or absent. Off-grid weather, defence open-source intelligence, education, and amateur radio.

Agriculture

Weather monitoring

Local cloud cover, frost windows, storm tracking. Field teams in remote pastures need cell-tower-free weather data. Mickai Sky pulls passes overhead and writes them to a signed local imagery store.

Defence

Open-source intelligence

Open weather imagery for tactical planning. Multi-spectral overlays for terrain assessment. All locally signed, all auditable, all free of third-party processing pipelines that could be observed.

Education

STEM and amateur radio

Universities, schools, amateur radio clubs. Demonstrate orbital mechanics, modulation, error correction, image reconstruction. Live, hands-on, with a £25 receiver and an antenna.

Maritime

Off-grid weather

Yachts, research vessels, cargo carriers. Beyond mobile coverage, before sat-broadband, weather imagery from a dipole or a turnstile antenna keeps voyage planning intact.

Patent anchors

Mickai Sky integrates with two of the 31 filed UK patent applications behind the Mickai desktop app. Voice-biometric verification covers extreme-environment operations; federated fleet coordination covers maritime and aerospace contexts where sat imagery and fleet positions overlay.
