The role:

You own how Mickai stays compliant and audit ready as it grows. UK GDPR and DORA, the defence and government standards our customers must meet, and the administration of an estate of 104 filed UK patent applications. You build the internal processes that let a small, fast team move quickly without cutting corners on regulation or records.

What you will own:

• Own UK GDPR and data protection compliance across the company
• Prepare the business for DORA and operational resilience obligations
• Map and evidence the defence and government standards our customers require
• Administer the patent estate, 104 filed UK patent applications and 2,340 claims, alongside our advisers
• Build audit ready processes, controls and records that scale with the team
• Run internal reviews so evidence is ready before a regulator or customer asks
• Maintain the registers, filings and Companies House records that keep us in good standing
• Own supplier, contract and policy administration end to end

What you bring:

• Experience in compliance or operations in a regulated or IP heavy environment
• Working knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection practice
• Familiarity with DORA or comparable operational resilience regimes
• A methodical, evidence first approach to records and controls
• Comfort administering IP or contracts alongside external advisers
• Ability to build process from scratch, not just follow one
• Sound judgement handling sensitive material for defence and government customers

Nice to have:

• Exposure to defence or government procurement standards
• Experience supporting a company through a fundraise or due diligence
• Background in a deep tech, security or highly regulated startup
• Understanding of patent administration and filing processes

The deal (please read):

This is a founding, part-time role. You take meaningful sweat equity now, which converts to a competitive salary once we close our seed round. It is remote only, open only to applicants based in the United Kingdom or the United Arab Emirates, for legal and compliance reasons, with UK-friendly overlap appreciated.
